My Fiancée and I had the pleasure of spending 3 nights this past week at The York Chester Inn. Tracy and Dickson made our stay there an absolute pleasure. We were only planning on staying one night, but after the first night we wanted to stay longer! We stayed in the Art Deco Room.
The bed was so comfortable, we didn't want to get up in the AM. But we did because of the excellent breakfast Dickson was cooking for us. In the evenings it was so relaxing just to sit out on the side porch have a beverage, feel the breeze blow, and listen to the cicadas chirp.
It is a historic building with beautiful woodwork, antiques, decorations, and a very interesting story of its past. Walking distance to Downtown Gastonia, come see for yourselves.
We can't wait to go back again.
We came to Gastonia for an event at the Conference Center. It is a safe and easy walk from the inn to all of the great downtown businesses. There is a door code to get in after hours and each room has a deadbolt which made me feel safe at the inn. Our bed was super duper comfortable and the whole house was well appointed with a mix of antique and new furnishings . Our breakfast was tasty and we enjoyed talking with the owners while we all ate. Tracy and Dickson are an interesting couple who lovingly restored this great mansion and filled it with their warmth. Also, the robes were a nice touch and the toiletries smelled so good, like an orangesicle! We will be back soon! What a gem!
The York Chester was absolutely perfect for our weekend getaway. The house's history and decor were amazing, and our hosts Tracy and Dickson treated us like family. Every detail from the comfortable bed to the 5-star beeakfast service was simply perfect. We will stay here from now on when we visit our family in Gastonia. What an awesome place!
The York Chester Inn is a beautiful, historic property in Gastonia. We were first drawn to the Inn because of its proximity to our wedding venue. We thought it would be convenient for our wedding party to be next door to the venue, as most were not local to the area. Upon meeting with the owners/operators (Tracy and Dickson) and touring the Inn, we were in awe of all the property had to offer. From the meticulously remodeled and revived common areas to the uniquely themed suites, it’s evident that no expense was spared in bringing this home back to its former glory. Tracy and Dickson were eager to hear our vision for the wedding weekend and even suggested we have our rehearsal dinner at the Inn. We jumped at the opportunity and began planning; Dickson and Tracy helped every step of the way. They were always prompt with their communication and covered small details we had overlooked. Ultimately, the rehearsal dinner went perfectly. Tracy and Dickson accommodated the early arrival of supplies, ensured that their staff kept everyone’s drinks full (all 26 guests), and provided a level of care and service that no restaurant could have offered.
Staying at York Chester Inn was one of the highlights of the weekend. Each room has its own theme and is beautifully decorated. Also equipped with individual locks and plush bedding, the suites are more private than a hotel room and more comfortable than most peoples’ homes! The day of our wedding, we awoke to a beautiful breakfast casserole with fruit and fresh juice. A significant stress relief was that we were able to have the hair and makeup team begin at the Inn, as we could not arrive at the venue until later in the day. Tracy was even gracious enough to provide champagne and wine during the preparation. This was the perfect start to what turned out to be the perfect day. After our wedding, we stayed up late into the night enjoying the company of friends at the Inn. Sunday, we had a delicious breakfast spread and then Dickson and Tracy helped us gather our things and pack our vehicles; they were even fine with us making multiple trips! We were delighted to find out they had packaged our leftovers from the rehearsal dinner and even stored the top of our cake for us. The checkout process was a breeze.
We cannot say enough about the York Chester Inn. Dickson and Tracy provided such an amazing experience and did so with great attitude and friendly demeanor. The Inn is beautiful, the owners are wonderful, and we could not have asked for a better stay on the weekend of our wedding. If you’re planning to stay in Gastonia, check the York Chester Inn first. It is superior to all other accommodations in the area.

This is a beautiful house that the owners have restored; be sure to check out the wood floors and bathroom tiles. The bedding is fabulous and the area quiet; I slept like a rock. Highly recommended.
Well decorated and newly renovated Art Deco villa in downtown Gastonia near great restaurants and 15 minutes from Crowders Mountain. Impressively decorated time featured rooms make you feel at home and in a other world at the same time.
The York Chester Inn is a beautiful bed and breakfast. I'm so glad we chose to stay there. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very clean, and breakfast was delicious. The owners were very sweet and accommodating.
Our stay at the York Chester Inn was extremely enjoyable . Our hosts, Dickson and Tracy, were helpful, friendly and very accommodating. They have done an outstanding job of renovating the home. Each room had its own unique style. Our bedroom was large and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We would definitely come back again.
We were fortunate to be some of the first guests at the York Chester Inn. Each room is gorgeous, with lots of space and a different theme in each.
The house has been lovingly restored and is beautiful inside and out, with a historical authenticity that takes you back to gentler times. But modern amenities are abundant as well!
Tracy and Dickson are great hosts and breakfast is awesome. The town itself is home to interesting shops, restaurants and parks so there is plenty to check out. Be sure to visit The Sleepy Poet Antique Mall, just a few blocks away!
This B&B won't disappoint!!
When we needed to go to Gastonia to attend of wedding, my wife suggested that we stay somewhere overnight for our 30th Anniversary ourselves. We always like to stay at B & B's so I looked up bed and breakfasts in the Gastonia area and the 10 best popped up. After looking, only one was in Gastonia and it happened to be conveniently located beside the location they were having the reception at. So I booked it and didn't even have to pay for it until we were there through Expedia. Upon arriving, we were greeted quickly by Dickson and Tracy not far behind. A lovely couple from both sides of our nation that work so well together and have done such a beautiful job restoring his early 19th century Mansion. The knowledge they had of the area of the surrounding houses was unmatched and the breakfast was something that we
never experienced before with plenty of food and very scrumptious as well. We were even able to upgrade our room at no cost. They're very kind and tended our every need which were very few because everything was already prepared for us from the immaculate bedrooms wonderfully restored, the antique fixtures that are left in the house, stained glass windows, even in the ceiling in the upstairs hallway with natural light beaming through. If you are ever traveling through Gastonia, this is the number one bed and breakfast as far as we're concerned of all the 10 that were named from Charlotte to South Carolina.
